The Sacramento Valley Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Circle of Promise hosted their first “A Beautiful Promise” African American survivor’s glamour shot event on Saturday, January 14, 2012 held at Life Images Production.
The survivors were treated to a full day of glam and make over. Pam DeVaughn and Yolanda Gibson from BIA International Hair Salon were amazing in styling the ladies hair. Julie Rush, Makeup Artist with Elite Esthetics and Massage provided the makeup and glammed up the survivors. Jeff Burkholder, Photographer/Videographer and Owner of Life Images Productions took beautiful photos of the survivors, Jeanette Cash, Pamela Griffin, Betty M. Wilson and Fadra Baker. The survivors enjoyed the day of pampering and sharing it with their families and friends.
Our mission is to take breast cancer survivors of all ages and showcase their survival. Our continuous goal is to spread the word about breast cancer, prove that early detection is important, and show the African American community that survival is truly beautiful. The women presented in this make-over and photo shoot are not only survivors - They are BEAUTIFUL; They are STRONG; They are VICTOURIOUS! Their promise is to share with the African American community their experience with breast cancer and the beauty of survival. Our promise to the African American community is to encourage women to be passionate about their health, equip women with the right information about breast cancer, and empower the community to take action to put an end to breast cancer.
