"I met a woman who was working as a social worker at my current job helping people with low-income access health care. In our conversion I mentioned I had discovered lumps in my breast and had no medical insurance to see a doctor. She asked if I was aware of the Susan G Komen program. I had no clue what she was talking about. She advised me that Susan G Komen funds programs that give women access to breast health services. She gave me the information and I called and filled out the application. I was instantly approved for the program and was able to get an appointment at RAS within 72 hours. I went to RAS where I had my first mammogram and days later I went back in for a minor surgery to test the fluid in the lumps. The lumps in my breast were benign. I was relieved to hear I was cancer free, thanks to Susan G. Komen for the Cure." -Mikia Norris, Age 28, Zumba Instructor
