Diane started working with the Sacramento Board of Directors in 2002 as Treasurer and held that position for six years. Due to her strong commitment to Komen Sacramento, she just stepped up to Board President, providing Affiliate Board leadership and will ensure that the Board meets all ethical and legal responsibilities.
Bringing a passion to the local breast cancer community, Diane celebrates 10 years of survivorship as she shares "I'm the lucky one. My grandmother, mother and sister all died of breast cancer." She's filling a need in herself to give back and to do all she can "to ensure that my daughter, granddaughters and future great-grandchildren will never have to go through the sadness of breast cancer."
Diane is the Director of Fiscal Services for the Washington Unified School District in West Sacramento, and has worked in school accounting for 15 years. She and her husband have lived in the Sacramento area for over 30 years and currently live in Carmichael. They consider themselves very lucky to have four grandchildren!
When she's not working, cooking, playing golf or spending time with the grandkids, Diane helps her husband work on their 45-foot sailboat, which will someday be heading south. Diane will be sleeping in every morning and taking time to sit with a cup of coffee and read the morning newspaper.
Until then, Diane is excited about her new role as Board President. She shares that "Without a doubt, these are some of the most committed people I have ever met-from my fellow board members to the volunteers and folks at the National level, every one of them is united in one goal: To save lives and end breast cancer. It's pretty humbling."
