Every Registrant Can Make an Impact by Fundraising

You don’t need to be a fundraising expert in order to be successful at it—you just need the desire to stand up to breast cancer and make a difference. In 2011 we have exciting new tools to help even the shyest registrant support our mission. Remember: Every dollar makes an impact.

Fundraising Checklist

- Register Today.
The sooner you get started, the easier it is to raise funds.

-Set Your Personal Goal. We suggest setting your fundraising goal at $225 – Ask 15 people for $15 each.

- List Your Potential Donors. Make sure you include the following people: Co-workers, family, friends, clients, business vendors, community groups and people you meet!

- Compose Your Fundraising Letter or Email. Start with our sample fundraising letter and then personalize it with your story about how breast cancer has affected you or someone you know.

- Log into your Participant Center and create a personal fundraising web page. Then click on send emails. Emails sent from your Participant Center will include a link to that page, allowing people to donate directly to you.

- Download and Print Fundraising Tools. The following tools can be found online under the Fundraise tab on the Race site:

Matching Gifts
Increase your donation with employer matching funds. Many employers will match your personal donation. Check with your company for more information on matching gift programs. Employer matching gifts may also be available to you if you are the spouse of an employee, a retired employee or the spouse/widow/widower of a retiree.

Rewards!
To help celebrate our 15th annual Race, we're inviting every registrant to set a goal of asking 15 people to donate just $15. If each registrant does this, together we will raise over $4.5 million in donations, making a huge impact the breast cancer community. Our first reward level begins at $250! Check out the reward levels and the amazing prizes that include a treadmill, widescreen HD TV and a Dyson vacuum.

 American Airlines/American Eagle Tickets
Two American Airlines round trip tickets will be given out as prizes. All registrants that raise at least $225 (not including race registration fees) will automatically be entered into the drawing. Winners will be selected with a random drawing. Roundtrip air transportation provided on American Airlines or American Eagle to any destination in the continuous United States.
