Did you know that Race for the Cure teams have more fun and raise more money than individuals? They show up on Race day in wild outfits, have creative and fun fundraising parties and they support each other in the fight against breast cancer every day.
 
The teams often thrive well after the Race is over. Once they've made their financial impact on breast cancer, they care for each other when one is diagnosed, they celebrate when one finishes treatment, and they strategize how to make the next Race even better!
 
For 2012, we've made it easier than ever to form a team. Keep reading, and then talk to your friends - the benefits of being part of a team are significant. We want to help you make each Race for the Cure more memorable than the last!
 
It Starts with a Team Captain

Official Team Requirements - NEW! 
In order to be an official team and receive Team Race Day incentives, please ensure that you meet these two requirements by 5:00pm, May 10, 2012:

  • Minimum 5 team members registered
  • Team must raise a minimum of $500. Funds must be confirmed, we strongly encourage you to process all your donations online.

Official Team Benefits
Teams who have reached the minimum requirements above will enjoy these Race Day incentives.

  • Team sign provided on Race Day
  • Team photo on Race Day


Rock The Race Team Tailgate Party!
If your team meets the Official Teams requirements mentioned above then your team is automatically invited to the Rock the Race Tailgate Party! The party will be hosted in Lot C between 6:00 - 7:45am. Once your team reaches the Official Team status, you can make a new goal to earn one or all of the team incentives below (incentives are cumulative): 

  • Raise $1000 - $2499: Your team will be listed on the Rockin' Wall of Fame!
  • Raise $2500 - $4999: Your team will be provided with your very own table. Bring your own snacks/drinks and enjoy!
  • Raise $5000 - $7499: The DJ will play the song of your choice dedicated to your team or the person your team is honoring.
  • Raise $7500 - $9999: Your team earns VIT (Very Important Team) status that includes a Team Toilet and VIT Parking for one Team Captain!
  • Raise $10000 or more: Your team will get their very own tent with food provided!

Team T-Shirt Design Contest - NEW!  
Following are guidelines for the t-shirt design contest. New this year - the public will vote for their favorite t-shirt design during In-Person Registration and inside the Expo on Race Day.

  • T-Shirt must be submitted to the Affiliate office by Friday, May 4, 2012, 5:00pm
  • T-shirts will be displayed in booth during In-Person registration May 5th through May 11th and on Race Day inside the Expo for voting.
  • Voting will take place during In-Person Registration and on Race Day - Race participants and the public may vote by purchasing a ticket for $1. 
  •  The winning team will get credit for all the donations collected during the contest.
  • Winners will be announced post race in an eNews letter and featured on the komensacramento.org website.

Team Packet Pick Up -NEW!
Team packets will not be pre-assembled, we recommend each team member collect thier own t-shirts and bibs, however we will be happy to assemble your team box if you prefer. If you would like to schedule an appointment to have your team packet assembled and ready for pick-up, please email race@komensacramento.org by May 3, 2012 at 5:00pm. You must be an Official Team to schedule a pick-up order. Any team members added after this deadline must pick up their own t-shirt and bib.

Top Team Recognition 

Special recognition and prizes will be awarded for:
 

  • Top fundraising teams
  • The highest percentage of members collecting $225+
  • The highest average fundraising per member
  • Best t-shirt design

Custom "In Celebration/Memory Of" Bibs - NEW!
New this year, we have a wonderful way to pay tribute to those we remember and those we celebrate on Race Day.
You can order your own back bib to wear at the 2012 race with a personalized message and photo. Each bib is $10 with $3 of those dollars going back to the Sacramento Valley Affiliate. Click here to order your personalized bib today!
