EACH VOLUNTEER MAKES AN IMPACT

More than twenty five years ago, Nancy G. Brinker promised her sister that she would do everything possible to put an end to breast cancer. Today, thanks to more than 100,000 survivors, volunteers and activists, Komen for the Cure is the world’s largest, most progressive grassroots organization fighting breast cancer.

Volunteers play a vital role in the Susan G. Komen Sacramento Valley Race for the Cure®.  Their passion and commitment is what makes our Race successful.  This disease has touched so many people, either through their own personal experience or that of a loved one.  Will you join our passionate fight by volunteering on Race day?

Last year, individuals from all walks of life volunteered their time and talents before, during and after the Race to ensure its success. We need leaders, thinkers, movers and shakers, educators, communicators…all types of talented people. We look forward to having you join in the Race experience with us.

RACE COMMITTEE

The Affiliate is currently in search of new Race Committee members for the 2012 Race for the Cure event. As a Race Committee member you will assist in the planning and execution of the 2012 Race. There are several positions available within the committee, including Race Secretary, Signage, Registration, Survivors, Men for the Cure and Photographers. Please contact the affiliate if you are interesting in becoming a member at race@komensacramento.org.

MEN FOR THE CURE

Men for the Cure is an opportunity to support the Sacramento Valley Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure throughout the year at various events, such as the Race for the Cure. This group is dedicated to all the Men who have been touched by breast cancer in one way or another and now want to support the women in our community through volunteerism.

We will post several events on the official Men for the Cure facebook page throughout the year in which Komen Sacramento will need male volunteers. The postings will indicate the event, date, and volunteer hours need.

Please review the Komen 101 presentation before or after registering to volunteer for this year’s Race. This presentation was developed to give an overview of our organization and general expectations of our volunteers.
